A Clever Vet Managed to Save Conquer the Goldfish After a Pebble Got Stuck in His Throat

From the Brisbane Veterinary Services FB page: "Recently our patients have been keeping us particularly busy! Just last week we had a client with a fishy problem! Conquer the Ranchu Goldfish had accidentally eaten a pebble from his tank and got it stuck in his tiny mouth! Our vets had to give him some help in removing it."

    A physical exam revealed that Conquer had a black pebble stuck in the back of his throat – he was unable to dislodge it himself and he needed some help!

    In order to remove the stone we needed to anaesthetize Conquer. We did this by dripping an anaesthetic agent into the water until Conquer was asleep enough to allow us a good look in his mouth.

    After the pebble was dislodged we moved Conquer into a recovery tank that contains clean water free from anaesthetic. This allowed him to recover uneventfully. He went home the next day and so far has stayed out of any more trouble!
